Sadly iPads can only do so much and with two kids under three with a serious calcium habit, having a constant supply of ‘bots’ became a matter of priority.<br />
<br />
Enter the Campingaz Powerbox Plus 28L thermoelectric cooler…  or as my two-year-old called it… ‘the bot box’.<br />

It’s basically a fridge for your car that runs on the 12V (cigarette lighter). I loaded it up with the girls’ preferred tipple and chilled bottles were on hand for the entire trip.<br />

Once you reach your destination, the power lead can be swapped for a mains power plug, which is ideal for camping. <br />
<br />
The insulation keeps the contents cool even when it’s unplugged, but you can also throw a couple of freeze packs in there if you’re on the move and it will keep cool for hours. <br />
<br />
You can even drop a bottle of white in while you’re on the road so it’s perfectly chilled when you get back to the campsite and finally get the kids off to sleep.  Toddlers aren’t the only ones that need a cold bottle at the end of a long day!<br />

Campfire EggsThis is the best egg hack that I have ever found (Pinterest is amazing). I have been using this for a while and I even use it at home on the stovetop. The eggs are great and it's also an easy meal prep at the beginning of the week. I can also customize the egg bags for different days and different family members.<br />

Add the egg mixture to a quart size zip top bag and add whatever add-ins that I want. Then, label and date the bag and throw it in the refrigerator. Keep eggs cold in a cooler or refrigerator until ready to use. Simply boil water in a campfire safe pan and add the egg bag. Keep at a rolling boil for approximately 15 minutes, or until eggs are no longer runny. I like to add the cooked eggs into a taco or burrito shell and add some avocado, tomatoes, salsa and cilantro.<br />
<br />
The egg mixture can be frozen as well. Simply freeze the beaten eggs without all the extra veggies. When ready to use, simply thaw the eggs and then add in the extra ingredients.<br />
<br />
Loaded Baked Plantain Boats Everyone knows how to make a banana boat! Simply slice the banana lengthwise and add some mini marshmallows and chocolate chips inside the banana. Wrap in foil and grill until warm and gooey, Then top with some crumbled graham crackers.<br />

Here's a new take on that concept. Plantains, when cooked, are very similar to mashed potatoes.<br />
<br />
Grill them and add all of the toppings that I normally would with a loaded baked potato. Simply cut a ripe plantain lengthwise and spread open. Season the inside of the plantain with some salt, pepper, granulated garlic, sriracha seasoning or sauce (if you like things spicy) and about a tablespoon of butter. Now add your favorite potato toppings, I like to add some crumbled bacon and shredded cheese. Wrap in foil and grill for 35-45 minutes, or until plantain is soft. Open and add your favorite toppings, such as sour cream and chives.<br />

Chicken Fajita Enchilada Foil PacketsTear off two large pieces of heavy duty aluminum foil. In the center of the foil, add cubed chicken. Season with some salt, pepper, cumin and garlic. Then add some refried beans and cooked Spanish rice (Meijer has Spanish rice in a can.) Next, add some sliced bell peppers, followed by some cut up asparagus. Simply fold the aluminum foil over the mixture then fold in the other side (kind of like wrapping a gift). Then fold up the other ends and label. Grill until chicken is completely cooked (about 30 minutes or so). If you are using ground beef, then it is closer to 20 -25 minutes.<br />

Roasted Apples and Oatmeal Scoop out a well from the top portion of an apple. Add some oatmeal in the well, followed by some water. I like to use gluten-free brown sugar oatmeal in a packet but you can use regular oatmeal (just make sure to add some brown sugar and cinnamon as well). Wrap apple in 2 layers of aluminum foil and grill until apple is soft (approximately 20-30 minutes).<br />

Sugar Cone S'mores Simply add some mini marshmallows, chocolate chips and other favorite items (such as fruit, shredded coconut, bananas, mini candies) inside the sugar cone and wrap in heavy duty aluminum foil. Grill over a fire until warm and gooey.<br />

Cinnamon Rolls Easiest way to cook cinnamon rolls is to take a skewer and wrap a cinnamon roll around the skewer and grill (like a marshmallow). Or you can place the cinnamon roll slice inside of an orange that has been halved and the insides have been removed. Simply place the halved orange onto some heavy duty aluminum foil and add a cinnamon roll inside. Grill until the cinnamon roll is no longer doughy.<br />

Condiments An easy way to bring spices and condiments along on a camping trip is to utilize things that you would normally throw away. Tic-Tac containers are great for spices and seasonings. I like to save my cinnamon mint containers and put cinnamon sugar inside. Coffee creamer containers are perfect for your whisked egg mixtures and they are also good for snacks. I like goldfish snacks and these containers are perfect.<br />
<br />
SkewersEasy way to grill meat, veggies and fruit. Easiest way is to use stainless steel skewers because they won't burn and you can re-use them. But if you only have wooden skewers, add them to water for 30 minutes prior to grilling (so the wood doesn't burn).<br />

Cereal Add cereal (3/4 cup) to a sandwich sized zip top bag and seal. Label it with the cereal or name. When ready to use, simply open the top of the bag and put inside of a red solo cup. Drape the opening of the bag over the top of the cup and pour in milk. Add spoon and serve. When finished, simply throw away. Easy way to serve cereal at a campsite.<br />

Pancakes Mix pancake batter at home and put in a zip top bag. Squeeze any excess air out and seal. Then label and date the bag. Keep on ice in a cooler or refrigerate until ready to use. Simply snip off one corner of the bag and make your pancakes in a skillet on a stove or in a cast iron pan over a fire.<br />

We kicked off the chilly winter morning by warming our bodies around the campfire and cooking up a hearty camper’s breakfast of bacon and eggs before heading out to hike a few of the 13 miles of trails weaving through the park. The cooler months are ideal for fall foliage hikes along trails such as the short but steep half-mile climb leading to White Rock Cave — a delight for both big and small explorers. The sun cast its warmth over Garner State Park by noontime and we found solace paddle boating down the Frio while marveling at the turtles, fish and a few brave campers splashing in the brisk, translucent water. The kids spent the afternoon casting fishing poles into the sparkling river and playing a round of miniature golf before returning to the campsite, where we rekindled the fire for a camp-worthy meal of hot dogs and s’mores. When the weather heats up, Garner-goers enjoy tubing and swimming in the Frio, taking scenic hayrides and boot-scooting under the stars at the park’s nightly summer jukebox dances.<br />
<br />
<b>Eat here:</b> Bring along your cooler and Coleman stove to picnic in nature - visitors can refuel by purchasing firewood and propane within the park. Open daily during the summer and operating certain weekends throughout the year, Garner Grill satisfies big appetites with burgers, corn dogs and fries and serves up sweet treats such as ice cream cones and frozen Lightning Lemonade.<br />
<br />
<b>Stay here:</b> Pay the daily entrance fee ($7 adult day use/$5 nightly; free for children 12 and under), and you can stay overnight in Garner State Park at a variety of camping areas. Choose from campsites ($15-$26 nightly), shelters ($25-$35 nightly), cabins ($130 nightly) or a group campsite with bunk beds and screened shelters ($350 nightly).<br />

In that time, it has covered just 1,800 miles.<br /><br />The iconic vehicle will go under the hammer at Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale on June 30.</div>

RV shipments were up 15 percent year-over-year in 2016, hitting their highest level in 40 years, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association. The biggest sales increase is coming from the smallest motorhomes. Shipments of camper vans – standard vans like Ford Transit outfitted with sleeping and living areas – are up more than 36 percent through March. Class C motorhomes – camper van built on cutaway chassis including the Ford E-Series consisting of vehicle frame, suspension, powertrain and cab – are also rolling out at a rapid pace, with shipments up more than 32 percent through March, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association.<br />

Ford leads the motorhome chassis market in Classes A, B and C, holding 63.8 percent share in 2016, up from 61.2 percent in 2015, according to data from Statistical Surveys Inc., a market analysis company specializing in the RV, marine and manufactured housing industries. In 2016, Ford’s share of the Class C market with Transit and E-Series cutaways was 69 percent, up from 65 percent in 2015, while its share of the Class A market, led by the F-53 chassis, was 67.6 percent, up from 66 percent. RV manufacturers just started building Class B motorhomes on Transit last year.<br />

“We’re seeing tremendous growth in Ford Transit and E-Series sales to the RV market,” says Dennis Bearden, Ford RV and pool account manager. “Last year, our Class C motorhome sales were up 28 percent, and as more motorhome manufacturers build on Transit, our Class B sales are also climbing. Combine that with our long-established popularity in the Class A market, and it’s apparent families looking for adventure of any size can find it in a Ford-based motorhome.”<br />

Like most camper van built on them, Ford Transit, E-Series and F-53 chassis are assembled in the United States for the North American market. For 2017, Ford updated its E-Series cutaway and stripped chassis to offer the 6.2-liter V8 engine proven in F-Series Super Duty trucks. This optional engine provides 356 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm and 331 horsepower – representing a significant improvement over the 5.4-liter engine it replaced. Also new this year is an optional rearview camera.<br />
